300 words description of Folie Design

Howard Smith Wharves is a site of cultural and historical importance for Brisbane not only because it used to be the central wharves but also because of the story bridge situated above it. On the edge of the Howard Smith Wharves and also at the bottom of the Story Bridge reinforced concrete support stand a heroic space with a linear perspective of the Story Bridge.
The white Structure which sits on the water in front of it provide visitors the chance to step into a floating space opening on to the views passed beyond the same arched structural column whose offering a seat. The arched of the structure, gradually becoming smaller, is also a representation of the linear perspective disappearing in the horizon. Although the structure provides this experience of no physical boundaries to the river, its main function serves as a performing space which can be seen from both track of the river path to the site Brisbane CBD and New Farm.
The clean, white, concrete structure is very simple. It contrast the dark industrial look of the messy metallic bridge while copying to an extent the solid and massive reinforced concrete support of the Story Bridge. The structure only works with compression, the arched spreads the load of the materials along to its edge than down the column to the ground. The skeleton of the structure is made up of grids of steel throughout the concrete which are all inter-connected.
By implementing a public performing space, the structure offers a step closer in activating the site to social gathering and events while its surrounding is developing and could eventually benefit from it if several commercial building is being implemented such as restaurants and coffee shops.
